QUT International Merit Scholarship
An ongoing scholarship covering 25% of tuition fees per semester of study at QUT, provided the student meets the course's ongoing academic requirements. Other benefits may include membership of the QUT College of Excellence.
Eligibility: For future international undergraduate and postgraduate students who meet the academic and minimum English language entry requirements for their degree, are commencing the course for the first time, and receive an admission offer letter into one of QUT's eligible courses. Not available to students already holding another QUT academic scholarship, or to students returning to a prior QUT course. QUT states the award is available from all five faculties (Business and Law; Creative Industries, Education and Social Justice; Engineering; Health; Science).
This is the most explicit merit-not-need statement found in the whole sweep: QUT writes that "other factors (e.g. educational disruption, medical circumstances, financial needs) will not be taken into consideration for this scholarship - eligibility is solely determined on your academic record", and that the scholarship "is awarded to international students who have demonstrated academic excellence in their past studies". So merit, and emphatically not both. QUT publishes minimum academic standards per country and study area in a long table further down the page rather than a single figure, so no numeric grade bar is recorded.
