International tuition
US$71,802 per year
2026/27 · Same rate across the institution · All students — no separate international rate
Northwestern's Cost of Attendance page states tuition and mandatory fees are the same rate for in-state or out-of-state students; the same flat rate applies to international students since there is no further, separate international category on the page. Figure is tuition only (fees are a separate $1,260/year line); full cost of attendance including housing, meals, books and personal expenses totals $99,375/year for a student living on campus.

Northwestern does not award merit-based scholarships; all aid is need-based. Domestic admission is need-blind and meets 100% of demonstrated need without loans. International applicants instead face need-aware admission (financial aid requested may factor into the admission decision, and aid eligibility must be established in the first year to remain eligible in later years), but once admitted, international aid packages also meet 100% of demonstrated need, cover the full cost of attendance, and are loan- and work-free.
